Vinted Members Express Displeasure Regarding Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
